Thyroglobulin (Tg) is a dimeric protein used by the thyroid gland to produce the thyroid hormones thyroxine (T4) and triiodothyronine (T3). Thyroglobulin levels are measured to evaluate effectiveness of treatment for differentiated thyroid carcinoma (DTC) and to monitor for DTC recurrence. Thyroglobulin testing may also be performed to help determine the cause of hyperthyroidism and to monitor the treatment effectiveness of Graves disease. This Certified Reference Material is suitable for use as starting material in calibrators and controls in LC-MS/MS Tg testing methods.
