ST. LOUIS – February 24, 2015 – Sigma-Aldrich Corporation (NASDAQ: SIAL) is pleased to announce that the Cerilliant® brand within its Applied Diagnostics and Testing business is introducing eight new Certified Spiking Solutions® of tryptamines for use in quantitative mass spec-based testing applications such as forensic analysis, clinical toxicology, urine drug testing, or pharmaceutical research. This product introduction includes solution CRMs for five synthetic tryptamines 5-MeO-AMT, 5-MeO-DALT, 5-MeO-MiPT, 5-MeO-DMT, and 5-MeO-DiPT in addition to three naturally occurring tryptamines N, N-dimethyltryptamine; psilocybin; and its stable-labeled internal standard.
These tryptamine reference standards represent the latest additions to Cerilliant’s offering of hallucinogen certified reference materials (CRMs), which include dissociatives, LSD and its derivatives, NBOMe analogs, and other hallucinogenic novel psychoactive substances. Since these chemicals are generally controlled, Cerilliant supplies its Certified Spiking Solutions® of tryptamines in a USDEA and Health Canada with Test Kit Numbers (TK#s)-exempt solution format.
Natural and synthetic tryptamines are used recreationally for their hallucinogenic and stimulant properties. In recent years, tryptamines have experienced a resurgence of abuse due to their ease of availability on clandestine and legal websites combined with a growing trend among drug users to vaporize tryptamines using e-cigarette devices.1,2 Tryptamines have also emerged as a potential tool in identifying targets for new antipsychotic drugs and as a potential therapeutic for managing psychiatric illnesses such as depression and bipolar disorder.3,4
Cerilliant’s reference standards are manufactured and certified to the highest industry standards including ISO Guide 34, ISO/IEC 17025, and ISO 13485 and are compliant with ISO 15194.
