Cerilliant Introduces New Certified Spiking Solutions® of 1a, 25-Dihydroxyvitamin D
ROUND ROCK, TEXAS – June 23, 2011 – Cerilliant introduces two new Certified Spiking Solutions® of 1a, 25-Dihydroxyvitamin D3 and 1a, 25-Dihydroxyvitamin D2, the biologically active forms of vitamin D, to further augment its offering of Snap-N-Spike® reference solutions for vitamin D testing by LC/UV or LC-MS/MS. Both Certified Spiking Solutions® are available in concentrations of 5 µg/mL in ethanol. Cerilliant also offers Snap-N-Spike® reference standards of 25-Hydroxyvitamin D2 and 25-Hydroxyvitamin D3 including stable labeled 25-Hydroxyvitamin D3 for monitoring blood/serum calcidiol levels in determining vitamin D nutritional status.
Testing and interest in vitamin D levels have increased dramatically over the last few years as medical studies raise awareness of vitamin D deficiency and its impact on disease and overall health. A new report released in March, 2011, by the Institute of Medicine (IOM) found that around 25 percent of the US population were at risk of vitamin D inadequacy. Starting with Cerilliant Certified Spiking Solutions® provides flexibility in preparation of linearity standards, controls, or calibrators in the laboratory’s matrix of choice and eliminates weighing of sensitive and difficult compounds like vitamin D and its hydroxy metabolites.
