Cerilliant Introduces New Certified Snap-N-Spike® Solutions of Synthetic Cathinones Found in “Bath Salts”
ROUND ROCK, TEXAS – May 31, 2011 – Cerilliant Corporation introduces seven new certified Snap-N-Spike® solutions of the following “legal high” designer drugs: NaphyroneHCl, MethedroneHCl, ButyloneHCl, Butylone-D3HCl, Methylone-D3HCl, Ethylone-D5HCl, and 3,4-Methylenedioxypyrovalerone HCl (MDPV).
Naphyrone (street names NRG-1 energy 1, or rave), methedrone (street name Dolley), butylone, methylone (street names Explosion, Ease, or Arlone), ethylone, and MDPV (street names MTV, Magic, Super Coke, or PV) are synthetic cathinones found in “bath salt” products sold legally over the Internet under various names such as Ivory Wave, Bubbles, White Rush, Vanilla Sky, and Blizzard. At least 15 stateshave enacted legislation or taken administrative action to ban these cathinone designer drugs due to the significant number of hospitalizations and deaths attributed to their use. Recently, the US Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) sent a request out to the scientific community for information on the pharmacology, toxicity, and abuse of these synthetic cathinones to support possible future scheduling.
Cerilliant’s latest new products complement their current offering of Certified Spiking Solutions® in this class including MephedroneHCl, Mephedrone-D3HCl, MethyloneHCl, and EthyloneHCl.
“As more laboratories are receiving calls to test for these hallucinogenic, potentially lethal substances, the demand for authentic, highly pure certified reference standards increases,” comments Mitzi Rettinger, Vice President of Cerilliant. “Cerilliant has recently added eleven new products to support testing of ‘bath salts’ and will continue to evaluate future additions as identified.”
Cerilliant’s “legal high” drug reference standards are manufactured and certified to the highest industry standards including ISO Guide 34 and ISO/IEC 17025 and are suitable for a wide variety of quantitative or qualitative applications from control or calibrator preparation in forensic drug testing or clinical toxicology analysis to isotope dilution methods. These standards are classified as “certified reference materials” in accordance with ISO requirements. Cerilliant’s quality system also incorporates FDA’s cGMP and GLP guidelines as well as ISO 9001:2008 requirements making these standards suitable for any analytical application across international borders.
Cerilliant will monitor the actions of the DEA and if the synthetic cathinones are regulated, apply for DEA exemptions for the Certified Spiking Solutions® to ensure laboratories uninterrupted supply without regulatory paperwork.
