Cerilliant Introduces Certified Reference Materials of Reb-A (Stevia) in Solution
Cerilliant offers certified reference materials of Rebaudioside A (Reb-A), and common
Reb-A impurities in an accurate and convenient solution format. Reb-A, the no-calorie
sweetener derived from the stevia plant, is gaining popularity in the U. S. food
and beverage industry as a replacement for synthetic no-calorie sweeteners. FDA
guidelines require Reb-A ingredients contain a minimum of 95% Rebaudioside A. The hygroscopic nature of these
compounds provides many challenges in the accurate preparation of a quantitative
reference standard which can lead to inaccurate purity results.
Cerilliant certified Reb-A solution standards are quantitatively prepared by starting
with full characterization of all neat materials, including determination of water
content, handling, and preparation of solutions in nitrogen purged glove boxes and
flame sealed under argon in ampoules. This format not only eliminates the issues
surrounding storage, handling, and accurate reference preparation, but also offers
significant benefits to the laboratory such as increased efficiency for analysis
of Reb-A ingredients, convenience of use with Snap-N-Shoot® or Snap-N-Spike™ capability,
and retest/expiration dates supported by real time stability data. For added convenience,
we supply a multi-component solution standard of six Reb-A impurities including
Rebaudioside B, Rebaudioside D, Rubusoside, Stevioside, Steviol, and Steviolbioside
which can be used to ensure impurities found in Reb-A ingredients are safe and not
adulterants.
Cerilliant certified solution standards not only begin with full characterization
of neat materials but also include analytical verification of solution purity, analytical
verification of solution concentration to an independently prepared multi-point
calibration curve, and verification of ampoule to ampoule consistency. Full details
of all analyses are presented on our comprehensive Certificate of Analysis (COA).
Cerilliant is an ISO Guide 34 and ISO/IEC 17025 accredited company and our Reb-A
reference solutions are prepared and tested to the highest industry standards.
